Comprehensive Eye Exams

A thorough, comprehensive eye exam goes a long way toward ensuring that your vision remains clear and your eyes are healthy no matter your age. Our eye doctor will be looking for any initial signs of eye diseases or conditions that can be critical to your vision. Early detection and treatment are essential to saving your eyesight. Some common eye diseases or conditions that can be caught during your eye exam include glaucoma, macular degeneration, cataracts, or diabetic retinopathy.

Diabetic Eye Exams

Diabetics are prone to several eye diseases, such as cataracts and glaucoma. However, the most common complication of type 1 or 2 diabetes is an eye condition called diabetic retinopathy. Diabetic retinopathy is an eye condition that occurs when the blood vessels in the back of the eye become more abundant, leak fluid, and bleed as a complication of diabetes. The early stages of this condition may not produce any symptoms, so it is vital that patients with type 1 or type 2 diabetes undergo regular eye exams to accurately diagnose diabetic retinopathy.

Refractive Eye Exams

A refractive eye exam or vision test helps us determine the best eye prescription needed for your eyewear, like glasses or contact lenses. During your exam, our optometrist will have you look through a vision chart covered in bold, black letters that are larger at the top and get progressively smaller as they reach the bottom. Your eye doctor will then adjust the power of the lenses, shifting or flipping them back and forth until the letters on the chart look clear.

On average, we recommend scheduling an appointment once every two years to ensure your eyes remain healthy. If you have been diagnosed with an eye condition, however, we recommend scheduling an appointment once or twice a year, depending on the severity. Contact us today to book your eye exam. We are currently accepting new patients.
